Overview of Position:
■ Responsible for controlling manufacturing operation and ensuring production quality and cost targets are met■ Ensures the compliance of the manufacturing processes and environment in a chemical production site with hazardous products■ Responsible to maintain and develop the high environment, safety and health standards based on the local law and regulations for the chemical industry■ Duties include production and assembly, quality control, material handling, scheduling, health & safety programs, engineering, plant logistics etc.■ Monitors production processes and the effective use of manpower and equipment■ Coordinates production operations with strategic purchasing, sales, etc.■ Normally the most senior manufacturing person responsible for manufacturing site(s) reporting to a General Manager or overall Manufacturing Director. Occasionally Plant Manager 1 may report to a more senior Plant Manager at the same location (normally at large sites)■ Communicates plant status and results to business and functional leadership, as required.
Primary Responsibilities:§ Responsible for the effective production in a plant where manufacturing activities are relatively straightforward (mainly blending or packaging processes)§ Production covers a limited range of products or a larger range of similar products (similar chemistry)§ Supervises quality, health & safety programs, engineering and maintenance§ Supervises a direct work force through production supervisors and foremen§ Coordinates methods, cost accounting, maintenance and other related operations such as incentive rates and adherence to safety programs§ May be involved in union negotiations and ensures the implementation of the agreements§ May provide administrative support to on-site, non-mfrg resources§ May serve as director for local legal entity§ May provide administrative support to on-site, non-mfrg resources§ May serve as director for local legal entity§ May serve as Director/Officer within a country§ May be involved directly or indirectly with union negotiations and ensures the implementation of agreements
Required Skills and Abilities:§ Manufacturing knowledge in a chemical environment with hazardous products§ Negotiation & leadership skills – Strong leadership skills with basic strength in all competencies with demonstrated strength in Managerial Courage, Drive for Results, and Accountability § Knowledge of LEAN and Six Sigma principles§ Good understanding of environmental, health and safety national and local regulations and compliance requirements§ Experience with handling Union negotiations preferred§ Introduction to HR Processes with basic proficiency in TOR, C&Rs, leadership competencies§ Good understanding of supply chain processes including MRP§ Demonstrated Project Management skills§ Demonstrated strength in Managerial Courage, Drive for Results, Accountability with basic to demonstrated for Human Capital Competencies,§ Good understanding of environmental, health and safety § Experience with handling Union negotiations strongly preferred§ Successfully utilizes HR tools (C&R, TOR, leadership competencies)§ Demonstrated competencies in supply chain processes§ Thorough understanding of environmental, health and safety § Strong leadership skills with extraordinary strength in managerial courage, drive for results and accountability and demonstrated strengths in Human Capital competencies§ Successfully utilizes HR tools (C&R, TOR, leadership competencies)§ Demonstrated competencies in supply chain processes§ Experience working in a Union environment and handling Union negotiations§ Strong leadership skills with Extraordinary strength in a majority of leadership competencies§ Demonstrated project management skills applied to large scale projects (>USD$5M)§ Successful results and work experience in a commercial role preferred§ Demonstrated project management skills applied to small/and medium-size projects ( § Thorough understanding of environmental, health and safety § Strong leadership skills with extraordinary strength in managerial courage, drive for results and accountability and demonstrated strengths in Human Capital competencies§ Demonstrated competencies in supply chain processes§ Experience working in a Union environment and handling Union negotiations§ Strong leadership skills with Extraordinary strength in a majority of leadership competencies
