COMPANY BACKGROUND
Our client is a technically-driven E&P company with a robust portfolio of high caliber assets in South America. Production growth is being pursued through a large capital expenditure program on existing acreage and ongoing business development activities. Functions such as drilling, completions, project management, procurement and accounting are all contained in-house. 

The Company currently operates 100% of its oil production, holds interest in close to ten blocks in the operating regions totaling over 600,000 acres and has over fifty full time employees in South America. All of our client's production growth since incorporation in 2005 has come by way of drilling success on the Company's lands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Vice President, Operations will be a dynamic leader with strong technical, business and managerial skills that will oversee the Company's exploration & production activities and development projects.The position will be responsible for developing and leading a high performance team, and for creating effective partnerships with local partners, regulatory bodies and communities. A large degree of latitude will be provided to this individual to carry out the annual plans and activities associated with the exploration and day to day operations.

Key activities will include exploration permitting, land contract finalization, drilling and completions of exploration through to development wells, day to day production volumes, and accountability for the overall health and safety of the work force.

The Vice President, Operations will have a growth mandate and is expected to aggressively look for opportunities to expand the production base of the company through a combination of exploration & development of the asset base combined with pursuit of new growth opportunities.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

The successful individual will be required to develop and manage important external relationships at the highest levels and become the voice and face of our clients company.These external relationships will involve, but will not be limited to, regulatory, ministry and industry agencies.Participation in industry forums will be required as well as holding relationships with partners and other oil and gas companies.

The role will require a strong leader who is able to oversee a staff complement of approximately 60 technical employees and over one hundred contractors, with prospects for future growth. 

•Must have strong language skills in Spanish & English (oral and written).
•Minimum 15 years experience in oil & gas operations management, including drilling/completions; production facilities; and project management.
•Broad experience base in the international E&P arena, with strong knowledge base of the upstream oil and gas sector in Latin America.
•Must have experience managing multi-disciplinary teams made up of engineers, geoscientists, and operators.
•Exposure to larger company environments with professional management systems and training as well as exposure to small, entrepreneurial company environments.
•Significant senior management experience with bottom line responsibility for a region or large business unit.
•Proven track record of activity planning; execution and delivery.
•Experience building and mentoring teams.
•Some corporate development and mergers and acquisitions experience coupled with a good understanding of the associated integration processes would be an asset.

EDUCATION

•Engineering or Geosciences degree.
•MBA would be an asset.
COMPENSATION

•A competitive compensation package will be provided composed of base salary, bonus and long term incentives.
