Mission
The Risk Management Department seeks to understand the risk profile of each trading area and to ensure accurate internal reporting of the firm's risk positions. As a risk manager you will assist a senior risk manager with reviews of daily activity and a variety of special projects.
Responsibilities:
This professional will be responsible for analyzing the risk profile of the commodities trading business in São Paulo. The risk manager works as part of a global team that is responsible for communicating the risk taking activity to the firm’s senior management, and will interface with traders as well as business support groups (controllers, IT, Credit, etc.) on a daily basis.
Basic/Minimum Qualifications: This role is ideal for someone with 7-15 years of experience that wants exposure to an extremely varied set of Commodity risks (Agricultural products).
Preferred Qualifications: Preferably MS in financial math/engineering/statistics/economics. We would also consider non MS candidates with commodities experience.
Skills:
The candidate must have an understanding of risk management concepts such as VaR, stress tests, and the risk representation of options portfolios.
The candidate needs strong interpersonal skills combined with a solid understanding of the commodities trading markets.
A quantitative background and fluency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Visual Basic is desired as is a familiarity with Statistical Analytics Packages (Stata, Matlab), SQL database queries.
The candidate must be able to interact comfortably in a trading environment and with Sr. Management at various levels within the firm as well as with external regulators.
Analytical thinking, organization & planning, knowledge of accounting systems, interpersonal relationship;
Excellent written/verbal communication skills using spoken English & Portuguese, including the ability to explain complex ideas to others throughout the organization across varying levels of expertise,
Proficient ability to prepare compelling, high-impact presentations for senior organizational leaders, financiers, and other strategic and functional stakeholders and business partners.
Travel demand: travel back and forth between the US and Brazil when needed.
